<p><strong>Summary of Position</strong></p><ul><li>The Petroleum Chemistry Laboratory Technologist will be responsible for managing its Petroleum Chemistry laboratory as may be requested by the Dean.</li><li>The candidate shall contribute to keeping the Laboratory safe, maintaining and managing its equipment for students and faculty use.&nbsp;</li><li>She/he will work closely with the Dean and Chair of the department in guiding students through laboratory experience in line with the development philosophy of the American University of Nigeria.</li></ul><p><strong>Detailed Listing of Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Manage and maintain Laboratory inventory</li><li>Control and Manage the use of Laboratory equipment by students, Faculty and Staff.</li><li>Promote a good atmosphere, cleanliness and excellent laboratory environment for use.</li><li>Lead and take visitors on a tour of the Petroleum Chemistry Laboratory.</li><li>Be part of other committees aimed at promoting Petroleum Chemistry Laboratory development, staff welfare etc.</li><li>Contribute to AUN&rsquo;s community service and development.</li><li>Other duties as assigned by the Department chair/Dean.</li></ul><p><strong>Requirements for the position</strong></p><ul><li>HND / BSc in Petroleum Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.&nbsp;</li><li>2 - 3 years of experience working in a laboratory setting, preferably in petroleum chemistry or a related industry.</li><li>Relevant certification in laboratory technology is a plus.</li></ul><p>Other requirements, abilities for the position:</p><ul><li>Experience in problem centered approach to learning.</li><li>Experience in safety, managing students and laboratory equipment.</li><li>Proficient in the use and maintenance of laboratory equipment, especially those specific to petroleum chemistry.</li><li>Knowledge of chemical safety protocols and experience with laboratory safety standards.</li><li>Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage laboratory operations effectively.</li><li>Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and other stakeholders.</li></ul><p><strong>Description of Benefits</strong><br />Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience and job classification as approved by the University.</p>
