Full Job Description
Job SummaryAccountant to provide support to the financial department by managing daily accounting tasks.You will be part of a team of professionals working to maintain order and transparency for the company’s finances.The account will also assist the senior accountant in streamlining the company’s financial processes.Job ResponsibilitiesPost and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recordedUpdate accounts receivable and issue invoicesUpdate accounts payable and perform reconciliationsAssist in the processing of balance sheets, income statements and other financial statements according to legal and company accounting and financial guidelinesAssist with reviewing of expenses, payroll records etc. as assignedUpdate financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when neededMaintain ledger; record and document company financial transactionsOversee bank reconciliations and balance financial recordsUpdate vendor informationKeep updated budgets; handle monthly payroll disbursements and invoices, and confirm expense vouchers and purchase ordersPrepare and present regular reports about company finances including budgets, debts, deficits, expenditures, and revenueReview data to ensure that proper procedures are being followedConduct or assist with fixed asset auditsCalculate taxes and prepare tax returns in compliance with payment and reporting regulationsIdentify and resolve financial discrepanciesUtilize database management systems to maintain up-to-date record-keeping of financial documentsPredict future revenue and expenses through a detailed analysis of current and past trends in costs, financial commitments, revenues, and trendsPrepare and submit weekly/monthly reportsAssist senior accountants in the preparation of monthly/yearly closingsAssist with other accounting projectsUndertake any other task assignedJob RequirementsEducation:A Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or any closely related field from a reputable University. A professional certificate (ACCA, ICAN) is a must.Experience:Minimum of (3) years’ work experience post NYSC.Experience in the usage of Accounting software.Job Competences:Thorough knowledge of basic accounting proceduresIn-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Awareness of business trendsFamiliarity with financial accounting statementsExperience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close processHands-on experience with accounting software packages, like QuickBooksAdvanced MS Excel skillsAccuracy and attention to detailAptitude for numbers and quantitative skill.
