- Diploma in Forestry, Business Administration or Education;
- Preference will be given to candidates with a diploma or degree in forestry or environmental science;
- A combination of education, training and experience may be considered;
- Three to five years’ experience working in a related occupation, preferably with oversite of operational processes/systems or within an educational institution;
- A class 5 driver’s license and willingness to travel.

Position Description
Title: Assistant Manager Woodland Operations Learning Foundation (WOLF)
Department: Regional Stewardship
Major Job Function:
The Assistant Manager WOLF will report to the Board of Directors of the Woodland Operations Learning Foundation (WOLF) and the Chair, Business Programs & Regional Stewardship, Northern Lakes College (NLC). The WOLF Board approves annual work plans, budgets, and defines the scope of all projects, funding requirements and specific project deliverables each year. The incumbent is a Northern Lakes College employee and is responsible for the coordination, delivery, and supervision of all WOLF programming including interacting with students, funding partners, and internal and external stakeholders as required to provide exceptional programming.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Operational and Program Planning for WOLF:
- Develop, coordinate, and manage annual operational work plans aligned with WOLF’s goals.
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the organization.
- Organize meetings and provide regular updates to the Board of of Directors.
- Maintain accurate program delivery statistics.
- Ensure the WOLF website and social media content are accurate and up to date.
Support the Financial Management and Fundraising for WOLF:
- Provide the Board of Directors with quarterly updates, annual budgets, financial information, and reports.
- Develop and support fundraising activities.
- Manage the planning, submission, delivery, and reporting of grant proposals.
- Ad-hoc financial reporting as required.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of financial transactions.
Delivery and Development of the Forestry Education Program:
- Manage the forestry education program.
- Plan, organize, and manage the development of new forestry education programs as requested with support from NLC and WOLF partners.
- Prepare instructional contracts.
- Supervise and support contract instructors and/or office personnel.
- Manage the Performance Appraisal Cycle for employees under this position.
- Utilize clear direction to establish/enhance objectives for educational programming and business processes of WOLF.
- Promote and market WOLF programs and resources.
- Write interim and final reports.
- Assist students with enrollment and finding instructional supports.
- Ensure students have schedules and related documents.
- Maintain and update the Learning Management.
Coordination between Northern Lake and WOLF:
- Attend NLC meetings and training as required.
- Provide regular updates to the NLC manager.
- Coordinate and collaborate with counselors for student selection.
- Working with NLC management when needed, recruit, interview, and select staff to support WOLF's objectives.
- Coordinate with the Continuing Education and Corporate Training department for necessary in-person and online training and curriculum updates per the Memorandum of Understanding Administrative Services Agreement.
- Adhere to NLC regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Oversee and ensure proper filing of student information in NLC and WOLF's learning management systems.
- Operate under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between WOLF and NLC for all projects.
Stakeholder and Community Engagement
- Manage the forest education and community engagement projects (e.g., career fairs, conferences, camps, fundraising events).
- Network with stakeholders for sustainability and funding options for forestry and environmental education.
- Represent WOLF and NLC positively to stakeholders.
- Write interim and final reports on WOLF activities for sponsor organizations.
Skills / Knowledge required:
- Independent and team-oriented work.
- Strong project management skills, including contract management, logistics, and human relations.
- Strong communication skills, with knowledge of Indigenous, non-Indigenous, and Métis perspectives.
- Experience in managing the delivery of environmental education programs.
- Excellent public speaking and customer service skills.
- Marketing experience across multiple projects and workloads from various organizations.
- Understanding and experience with online learning management platforms.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and workloads from various organizations.
- Experience reporting to advisory boards or committees.
- Strong public relations skills for community engagement.

- Proven ability to effectively communicate.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry.

- Experience in grant application, management, and knowledge of curriculum development and implementation (asset).
- Understanding of Boreal Forest Ecology and Forestry Operations (asset).
