Full Job Description
Our client, a company involved in exportation of products manufactured by Nigerian MSMEs and SME’s across the region.


  • Market development across Africa.
  • Build Company’s research capabilities and build a system for capturing market intelligence to identify consumers needs and align with NEXPORTRADE objectives
  • Understand dynamics and pain points of MSMEs, SMEs and build a structure to support their development
  • Export market assessment – identify SME/ MSME competitive advantage and evaluate their ability to effectively meet consumers needs
  • Provide an efficient end-to-end service that promotes repeat business and growth of annual revenues in line with Company’s ambitions
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders NEPC, Board, MSMEs, members, financiers, and key suppliers.
  • Interface with trade associations and other collaboration partners to drive MSME and SME development
  • Liaise with Chambers of Commerce and relevant regulatory bodies for Company registration, certifications, permits, trademark registration etc.
  • Develop and oversee an efficient, cost-effective logistics process
  • Design and implement a cost-effective inventory management system
  • Facilitate export – import processes with knowledge of relevant regulations, licenses, tariffs, fees, restrictions etc.



Requirements

The requirements listed below are representative of the Knowledge, Skill and/or ability required to perform this job satisfactorily:
  • First degree from a reputable university
  • MBA/MSc/PhD is an advantage
  • Minimum 15 years work experience, at least 5 years in a management role in a reputable FMCG organisation
  • Business development (Export markets)
  • Proven track record working in FMCG as Head, Sales or Marketing or Exports
  • Project Manager experience with International Aid organisations is desirable
  • Expereince with P&L responsibility - preparation and execution of annual budgets in line with Company’s objectives
  • Exposure to different trade channels – traditional, modern trade, e-commerce
  • International work experience in sales or marketing within the ECOWAS sub region
  • Experience reporting c ompany performance to Executive Management or Board
  • In-depth knowledge of FMCG industry value chain and route to market, supply chain dynamics
  • Sound understanding of business development (Export markets), Sales & Marketing
  • Knowledge of Stakeholder management
  • Financial literacy – understand key revenue and cost drivers of the export business
  • Strong written communication skills; English and French
  • Ability to speak English and French fluently
  • Working knowledge of international trade processes and procedures
  • Knowledge of different economic and monetary union rules e.g. ECOWAS, UEMOA; free trade areas AfCFTA etc. and implications on the Company’s business
  • Strong people management skills
  • Proven leadership experience FMCG experience – Head, Sales or Marketing or Exports
