Job Summary
As directed by the psychologist/neuropsychologist, the psychometrist will administer and score psychological/neuropsychological test batteries evaluating cognitive, academic, neuropsychological, behavioral, emotional, and personality functioning to assist psychologists/neuropsychologists, psychiatrists, physicians, nurse practitioners, and therapists in decision making.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Administer and score psychological/neuropsychological tests as defined above.
- Score tests administered by psychologist or completed by patients and/or caregivers.
- Provide a written summary of patients’ behavior during testing including observations of how the patient interacts with others (e.g., caregivers, peers, staff, etc.).
- Provide written tables of results from testing when requested by the psychologist/neuropsychologist.
- Attend training conferences offered by the Mental Health Service Line.
- Perform duties at the desired level of competency.
- Review and ensure timeliness, accuracy, availability, and security of information.
- Comply with infection control and health and safety policies and procedures.
- Keep accurate accounting of time spent administering and scoring psychological/neuropsychological tests.
- Understands, adhere to, and models core standards as defined by the organization and specifically within the Mental Health Service Line.
- Keep inventory of test supplies, forms, and usages and inform supervisor when an order needs to be placed or place the order in a timely manner.
- Be willing to have trainees (e.g., general psychiatry residents, pediatric psychiatry residents, medical students, general pediatric residents, psychology undergraduate and graduate practicum students) observe testing sessions and answer their questions as able or refer to the supervising psychologist.
- Effectively establish rapport with patients and caregivers to obtain optimal testing performance and results.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in psychology with specific training in tests and measurements as well as ethics. Since this is primarily a pediatric position, with some young adults, knowledge, and experience with stages of development and experience with children and adolescents is required.
