Description
This position is responsible for performing power generation equipment preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, diagnostic procedures, heavy line and light line repairs, and minor generator start-ups. This position is hands-on maintenance of our customers and the company's power generation equipment to support all aspects of the service and parts departments. Generator Tech is expected to keep service vehicle, tools, and equipment in good working order. Must be able to perform load testing, warranty repairs, and startups based off manufactures requirements. Performs other duties as assigned by manager.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Perform maintenance including oil and filter changes, wide variety of repairs, load bank testing, warranty repairs, and startups.
- Hook up temporary generators (rental generators)
- Troubleshoot/repair engine issues.
- Perform fluid sampling.
- Completes service reports as job are completed.
- Carry out instructions in written, or diagram form.
- Perform problem solving and make logical decisions.
- Perform diagnostic testing, pulling cable, caring tools and other items.
- Clearly and concisely document all work and repairs completed by following all documentations procedures as instructed.
- Follow all safety requirements, including the use of personal protective equipment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have 3 year(s) previous generator experience or comparable manufacturer certification.
- Must have a working knowledge of generator and electrical theory and how a generator works.
- Trade School certification preferred.
- Must have knowledge of both diesel and gaseous engines and fuel system requirements 3+ year’s related experience.
- Be available to respond to any emergency calls while on-call.
- Must be available to travel and stay out of town overnight as required.
- Provide and maintain own hand tools and meters required to perform basis job functions.
- Clean driving record.
- Display ability to follow instructions and work well with virtually no supervision.
- Must be able to successfully pass a background investigation, which includes a motor vehicle check, and drug screen.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs, bend and twist several times daily.
- Must be available to work overtime and weekend hours as necessary.
