<p><strong>Job Summary</strong></p><ul><li>The Medical Officer will be responsible for overseeing the health and well-being of residents in the care home, providing medical care, and coordinating treatment plans with other healthcare professionals.</li><li>This role ensures that residents receive high-quality medical care in compliance with regulatory standards while working closely with nursing and care staff to create a safe and supportive environment for elderly or vulnerable individuals.</li></ul><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong><br />Clinical Care &amp; Medical Oversight:</p><ul><li>Provide day-to-day medical care for residents, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic conditions.</li><li>Conduct regular health assessments and medical evaluations of residents.</li><li>Develop, implement, and review individual care plans in collaboration with nursing staff, families, and other healthcare professionals.</li><li>Monitor the health status of residents and adjust treatment plans as necessary, ensuring optimal health outcomes.</li><li>Prescribe and administer medications in accordance with residents&#39; health needs and care plans.</li></ul><p>Emergency Response &amp; Crisis Management:</p><ul><li>Lead the medical response during emergencies or critical health events.</li><li>Ensure timely referrals to specialist care or hospital admission when necessary.</li><li>Provide first-line emergency care when required and ensure that appropriate follow-up care is coordinated.</li></ul><p>Regulatory Compliance &amp; Documentation:</p><ul><li>Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, care home policies, and industry standards.</li><li>Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, ensuring all documentation is in line with legal and care home requirements.</li><li>Conduct routine audits of medical practices and resident care to ensure adherence to regulatory guidelines.</li></ul><p>Collaboration &amp; Teamwork:</p><ul><li>Work closely with nursing staff, caregivers, and allied health professionals to ensure comprehensive, holistic care for residents.</li><li>Participate in case reviews and multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss resident progress and adapt care strategies.</li><li>Liaise with external medical specialists, hospitals, and healthcare providers to coordinate care when necessary.</li></ul><p>Resident &amp; Family Engagement:</p><ul><li>Provide medical advice and education to residents and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, and overall well-being.</li><li>Support residents and their families in understanding their treatment options and managing chronic conditions effectively.</li><li>Foster a compassionate, resident-centered approach to medical care that emphasizes dignity, respect, and autonomy.</li><li>Preventive Health &amp; Wellness Programs:</li><li>Lead wellness programs, including vaccinations, screenings, and health education initiatives, to promote preventive care for residents.</li><li>Encourage healthy lifestyle practices among residents to improve their quality of life and reduce the risk of illness or injury.</li></ul><p><strong>Qualifications &amp; Experience</strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery MBBS or equivalent from a recognized institution.</li><li>Minimum of 5 years of medical practice experience in a hospital, clinic, or healthcare setting.</li><li>Full registration with the medical council or relevant authority.</li><li>Valid driver&rsquo;s license is required.</li><li>Experience in geriatrics, family medicine, or long-term care is an advantage.</li></ul><p>Key Competencies:</p><ul><li>Strong clinical and diagnostic skills.</li><li>Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.</li><li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient-centered approach.</li><li>Strong problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills in emergency situations.</li><li>Proficiency in medical record-keeping and using healthcare management software.</li><li>Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced care environment.</li></ul>
