About the Role:
We're seeking a qualified mental health professional or clinical trainee to conduct diagnostic assessments and comprehensive multi-disciplinary evaluations (CMDEs). This position plays a crucial role in determining services for those with developmental disabilities and administering assessments (such as the Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS-2) assessment) as part of our comprehensive diagnostic services. This position will also involve conducting structured observations and other assessments to help identify other services needed/recommended for children and adolescents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct diagnostic assessments (DA) and comprehensive multidisciplinary evaluations (CMDE) to identify needs of children and adolescents with developmental disabilities
- Administer the CARS-2 assessment tool to evaluate individuals for autism spectrum disorder
- Administer standardized tests and/or assessment tools to children and adolescents with developmental disabilities
- Score assessments accurately and document results on diagnostic reports
- Observe and document behaviors across 15 functional domains
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including psychologists, speech therapists, occupational therapists, and behavior analysts to ensure comprehensive care
- Communicate assessment findings with families in a sensitive and supportive manner
- Maintain detailed clinical documentation and assessment records
Qualifications:
- Mental health professional as defined in or a clinical trainee as defined in
- Experience in the administration and interpretation of several assessment instruments or willing to obtain training.
- At least 2,000 hours of clinical experience in the evaluation and treatment of people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and/or related conditions. This experience can be completed in a school setting, community setting, or clinical treatment setting.
OR
Completed the equivalent in graduate-level coursework at an accredited college or university. This coursework can be in child development, ASD or related condition diagnostics, or ASD or related condition treatment strategies.
- Experience working with children and adolescents with developmental disabilities
- Strong knowledge of autism spectrum disorder characteristics and presentations
- Excellent observation skills and attention to detail
- Compassionate communication style with both clients and families
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices related to developmental disabilities.
- Familiarity with assessment tools and intervention strategies for children.
- Must pass background checks as required by state regulations.
