Full Job Description
JOB OBJECTIVE(S)The responsibilities of an Accounts Manager are focused on financial management, reporting and strategic planning.These responsibilities require a combination of technical accounting skills, strategic thinking, leadership capabilities and industry-specific knowledge detailed as follows:DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESPrepare and analyze financial statements and Management Accounts, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements not only for the principal company but other entities within the Amazon Energy Group.Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes and reporting.Analyze financial performance and contribute to medium and long-term business planning/forecasts.Update Intercompany matrix and related party transactions.Perform GL validation, prepare bank reconciliation statements, and manage month-end closures.Develop and manage the annual budget process.Monitor and report on financial performance against the budget.Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards.Stay updated with changes in accounting and tax regulations that impact the oil and gas industry.Oversee audits and ensure adherence to internal controls.Develop strategies to increase the company’s financial performance.Assess and manage financial risks, including currency, interest rate, and commodity risks.Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making.Liaise with external auditors (Big Four), tax advisors, regulatory and tax authorities.Communicate financial results and strategic recommendations to senior management and the board of directors.Manage and monitor cash flow in collaboration with the treasury team to ensure liquidity and efficient financial planning.Optimize working capital and manage debtors and creditors.EducationMust possess at least First Degree in Finance or Accounting.Master's Degree or Professional Certification in related field would be an added advantage and preferably a Chartered Accountant (ACCA, ICAN).Knowledge of relevant ERP or accounting software is added advantage.ExperienceMinimum of 7 years’ cognate experience in similar role in Financial Accounting and Oil & Gas Industry (preferably).Effective communication with stakeholders and intercompany counterparts.Ability to analyze financial data and provide insights.Must be versatile with tax laws, regulations, IFRS Accounting Policy and GAAP, and Internal Controls' Processes.
