TERMS OF REFERENCE

SBC GRAPHIC DESIGN WORK

Project Title: BOOST ( Better Opportunities for Optimal Services and Targeted immunisation for ZD and UI children)

Program Donor: GSK

Purpose: Design IEC materials for BOOST Project in Kano and Lagos States

Timeframe of the assignment: November to December 2024

Number of Days: 17

Background

The GSK funded immunization project conducted the final design workshop from the 6th to 12th May 2024. The workshop was attended by key stakeholders from SCI (UK & Nig), GSK, Government of Nigeria (FMoH, SMoH, NPHCDA, SPHCDA and LGA Health Authority) as well as the research partners (Uniilorin and LSHTM). The design workshop concluded on various information needed for finalizing the project proposal, which included the theory of change (ToC), log-frame, list of activities and the final draft of the budget. It is expected that the field implementation of activities will commence in October 2024. As part of the output from the implementation of the project is Development of effective communication content for the demand and supply side interventions: (Job aids, IEC materials, and flipbook) for Kano and Lagos

Scope of Work for the Consultant (Graphic Designer)

The graphic designer will be expected to provide the following services:

  • Provide technical inputs on the draft flipbooks and IEC materials
  • Create an aesthetic appealing and context appropriate pictorials on Facilitator Flipbook with GSK/ Save the Children brand identity for the GSK project.
  • Create user-friendly and context appropriate pictorials on IEC materials (posters and handbills) GSK/ Save the Children brand identity for the GSK project.
  • Produce draft flipbooks and IEC materials for review and pretesting (electronic and hard copies)
  • Based on the review by the technical team and the pretesting of the materials, apply recommendations and finalize materials for production.

Tasks

  • Meet with SCI staff at SCI office for a joint review of the existing flipbook and IEC materials (2 days)
  • Based on the meeting, produce pictorials and apply them to relevant sections of the materials with textual adjustments and produce first draft (10 days)
  • Present first draft of materials with SCI for initial review and feedback before pretest (2 days)
  • Produce printed copies of materials (as outlined in output below) for pretest (1day)
  • Make final adjustment on the materials after pretest and produce electronic versions of the document (2 days)

Outputs

  • First draft of facilitator flipbook for CAC/PDQS group electronic (English) versions produced
  • First draft of posters electronic (English) versions produced
  • Printed copies of flipbook (one each for English) produced for pretest
  • Printed copies of posters and handbills (5 each in Lagos and Kano for English) produced for pretest
  • Finalized versions of facilitator’s flipbook for men’s and women’s group (Englis) produced (electronic)
  • Finalized versions of posters and handbills (English) produced (electronic)

Qualifications And Experience

  • Knowledge and experience in graphic design, layout and document development
  • Experience working with INGOs and NGOs
  • Degree/certificate in Graphic Design, Art, Mass Communication, or related fields from a recognized institution will be added advantage

Supervisor

The graphics design consultant will work under the direct supervision of the SBCC Coordinator and overall direction of Lagos and Kano Program Managers and GSK Chief of Party.

Location and Duration

  • Location of Assignment: Kano and Lagos States
  • Expected Starting Date: 20 th November 2024
  • Expected Finishing Date: 10 th December 2024
  • Total Person Days: maximum of 17 days
