<p><strong>Job Description</strong></p><ul><li>We are seeking a skilled Server L2 Linux Engineer to join our IT team. This role involves administering, maintaining, and supporting our Linux server environment, providing Level 2 support to ensure system stability, security, and performance.</li><li>The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Linux operating systems, troubleshooting server issues, and supporting enterprise-level server infrastructure.</li></ul><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong><br />Server Administration:</p><ul><li>Manage and maintain Linux servers to ensure high availability, security, and optimal performance.</li><li>Perform regular system updates, patches, and software installations to keep systems current and secure.</li><li>Configure and manage server environments, including provisioning resources, setting permissions, and optimizing configurations.</li></ul><p>Troubleshooting and Support:</p><ul><li>Provide Level 2 support for Linux servers, resolving escalated issues and troubleshooting system errors.</li><li>Work with Level 1 support to investigate and resolve complex issues related to server performance, connectivity, and application configurations.</li><li>Escalate critical issues to Level 3 support or external vendors when necessary.</li></ul><p>Monitoring and Optimization:</p><ul><li>Continuously monitor system performance and conduct proactive maintenance to prevent issues.</li><li>Utilize monitoring tools to track server health, resource usage, and key performance indicators KPIs.</li><li>Identify opportunities to optimize system performance, including load balancing, caching, and tuning settings.</li></ul><p>Security and Compliance:</p><ul><li>Ensure compliance with company security policies by implementing access controls, applying necessary security patches, and configuring firewalls.</li><li>Conduct routine security audits and participate in vulnerability assessments to protect systems from threats.</li><li>Document security incidents, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions for future reference.</li></ul><p>Collaboration and Documentation:</p><ul><li>Work collaboratively with IT teams, including network, storage, and application support, to ensure seamless integration across systems.</li><li>Maintain comprehensive documentation of configurations, processes, and troubleshooting steps to aid in future support efforts.</li><li>Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders regarding system status, planned maintenance, and incidents.</li></ul><p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Education: Bachelor&#39;s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred.</li><li>Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in Linux server administration, with at least 1-2 years in an L2 support role.</li><li>Certifications: Red Hat Certified System Administrator RHCSA or similar Linux certification is a plus.</li></ul><p>Skills and Competencies:<br />Technical Skills:</p><ul><li>Strong proficiency with Linux operating systems e.g., RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu.</li><li>Knowledge of server monitoring tools e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, or SolarWinds.</li><li>Familiarity with shell scripting e.g., Bash, Python to automate tasks.</li><li>Experience with server virtualization e.g., VMware, KVM and containerization e.g., Docker, Kubernetes is an advantage.</li><li>Understanding of network protocols e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, SSH, FTP and basic networking principles.</li></ul><p>Soft Skills:</p><ul><li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively.</li><li>Excellent communication skills for clear and concise interaction with both technical and non-technical team members.</li><li>Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and document work effectively.</li></ul>
